Strange Woman Found On Roof Top

A woman believed to be in her 60s was found stranded on a roof top at Esigie Street between First and Second East Circular in Benin City, the Edo State capital, causing bewilderment in the area.
The woman whose name could not be obtained appeared exhausted leaving onlookers, who had gathered in clusters wondering how she got to roof top while others concluded that she was a witch.
The woman was said to be discovered at about 4am by some vigilante men who raised the alarm and woke up residents within the area. She was however brought down and taken to Esigie Police Station along with her personal belongings, giving the impression that she was returning from a
journey
He said residents came out in large numbers to ask her questions on how she got to the roof top of the building pointing out that upon inquiry the woman said she was passing by to a market in the area when she got stranded on a roof top.
Another resident in the area said:  “I was in my room early this morning when I heard the vigilante people interrogating her. I couldn’t come out because I thought it was a thief they caught.  Around 6am when I eventually came out, a large crowd had gathered catching a glimpse of the woman.”
Another eyewitness said, “When we got here we saw the woman on top of the aluminium zinc and we asked her how she got to the roof top  she said she was coming from her organisation.  I believe the woman is a witch and God has exposed her.”
Attempts by LEADERSHIP to get comments from the woman at the Esigie Police Station where she was taken to were unsuccessful. While the Edo state Police Public Relation Officer, DSP Noble Uwoh could not be reached by the time of going to press.
